Between sculpture and movement, mechanics and poetry, Antoine Dufilho traces a singular trajectory in the contemporary art landscape. A self-taught artist inspired by architecture and legendary cars, he transforms metal into vibrant, silent works of art. Here, in a nutshell, are 5 things to know about the artist and the essence of his work.

A family heritage of art, design and automobiles

Antoine Dufilho, a French sculptor from the South-West of France, grew up in a world where dramatic art and collectible mechanics coexisted. His great-uncle, Jacques Dufilhoa renowned actor and rare car enthusiast, passed on his passion for fine mechanical engineering.

This dual culture, artistic and technical, shapes Antoine’s unique outlook. Early on, he developed a fascination for automotive lines, mechanical precision and functional aesthetics, which were to become the pillars of his artistic approach.

From architecture to sculpture: structuring the void

Demanding academic training

A graduate of theÉcole d’Architecture et de Paysage de Lille, Antoine Dufilho learns to think in terms of space, to work with emptiness and to structure the eye. This foundation enables him to create works in which architectural design becomes sculptural volume, and emptiness becomes matter.

An immersive, kinetic work

His sculptures are not meant to be seen head-on. They are explored and activated by the movement of the viewer. The interaction between metal layers, light and movement creates a kinetic effect: the object seems to transform as you move around it.

A distinctive technique: sculpture in strata

Each work is made up of dozens or even hundreds of metal strips (aluminum or polished steel), cut with extreme precision, then assembled to create volumes full of tension and transparency. This manual process is reminiscent of 3D scanning or parametric design, but with a strong artistic sensibility.

The viewer doesn’t simply observe a form: he perceives a dynamic. The movement is not mechanical, but mental. It is the eye that activates the sculpture.

Legendary cars transformed into works of art

Bugatti, Porsche, Ferrari: Antoine Dufilho draws on these automotive legends to reinvent their lines. He doesn’t reproduce them: he deconstructs them, recomposes them and gives them a new artistic life.

Antoine Dufilho has sculpted a Ferrari 250 GTO in metallic strata, restoring the racy elegance of this iconic model while accentuating its taut lines. He also tackled the Ferrari F40, translating its power and aerodynamics through a subtle interplay of voids and volumes.

On the Porsche side, he revisits the 356 and the 911 Type 930 Turbo in superimposed stainless steel tubes, making their rounded forms almost vibrate, as if set in motion by the light.

The Lamborghini Miura gives way to a more angular, almost architectural interpretation, where sharp edges become sculptural structures.

At Bugatti, Dufilho transposes the lines of the Veyron in a work called Vivacity, deconstructs La Voiture Noire into a fluid, openwork mass, and reinvents the Type 57 Atlantic in a streamlined, graphic version, playing with transparency and formal repetition.

His pieces are exhibited in renowned galleries, prestigious salons (such as Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace or Top Marques Monaco) and even in public places. Many of his works are available for sale through his partner galleries or on request.

Beyond automobiles, Antoine Dufilho extends his approach to other icons of design and engineering.
He sculpted the famous boat Riva and revisited the Rafalea French fighter jet, with the same kinetic, sculptural approach.

Growing international recognition

In just a few years, Antoine Dufilho has gone from emerging artist to a leading figure in contemporary sculptural art. By 2025, he was exhibiting in over 60 galleries worldwide (Paris, London, Miami, Caracas, Vancouver, etc.).

His artistic reputation is constantly on the rise, driven by rare, complex and innovative works. Some of his sculptures now feature in prestigious private collections and public installations.

Active on Instagram, he regularly shares his news, behind-the-scenes stories from his workshop and current projects.
